How would you improve the Sansa Fuze?

How about a Now playing list? Like a Menu list of the current playlist, album or artist.. Kinda long process to get to the Music>>Artist>>Album and then select the next track I want to listen to..

I don't know if this would even be possible, but it would be nice for the Fuze/computer to integrate the expandable memory into the main memory. For example, instead of everything seeing it as 8 gig internal memory and separate 8 gig external memory for the memory card, I would love it to just read 16 gig memory. For example, my car stereo has the USB port, and it can see the Fuze in MSC mode, but only the internal memory. So anything on the external card can't be played.

The Fuze has had a sleep timer for a couple months now, if your firmware is up to date. And I'm not sure what you mean about quiet click wheel....I can't hear mine at all

Both, I mean when I press the four way navigation buttons, not in a circular motion.

It makes a loud plastic-y click. You can also really hear it when you're recording audio with the built in mic (which is amazing btw!)

I have v02.01.09A FW, is this the latest firmware? I'm on Ubuntu 8.10 so if there's a Windows updater I'm SOL...How can you do it with Linux?

Sorry, I don't mean the "wheel" I mean the center button inside the wheel. I guess the "select" button...wait, I do hear a "click" when I press on the scroll wheel (N S E W) directions.

This is the changelog listed there. At the bottom of that post is the link to download the firmware itself. Once you download the zip file follow the instructions below .
All languages are now in one firmware version. After firmware update you will need to select your Language and Region preference.

• Ensure your battery is > 50% full.
• Extract the .zip file into a folder on your computer.
• Once extracted, drag the file to the root directory of your Sansa Fuze.
• Disconnect the Sansa Fuze and let it begin the firmware update.
• Once it finally finishes doing its update, it will turn itself off.
• Turn the Fuze on Select your language and region preference
• Once its back to the main menu, head to "Settings" > "System Settings" > "Info", and verify the "Version" is now 02.01.17"x".

Yes, I was jonesin' for that since I purchased the player a week ago. Never thought to check for a firmware update. Now back to finishing my .flac tags in preparation for transcoding to .ogg. Does it transfer the tags from .flac into the .ogg "tags" when you transcode them down? I'm thinking about -q4 and can you recommend a transcoder in Linux (probably not the right thread for this)?

Honestly, I've never even seen a Linux machine, much less used one, so I can't help you there
