Hi all,
In the 1st of January I bought a new Sansa Fuze 8GB. Upgraded it to the latest firmware, and I noticed that the scrolling is really slow and buggy... but just in the album (inside artist) section. I scroll the wheel, but the player just responds after 1 or 2 seconds, and sometimes it jumps some albums. Is it normal? I also noticed that when the player is playing, but the screen is off, I have to give about a 900º degree turn in the wheel, so that the screen is on again. Is it also normal? Thank you, and sorry if my English is kind of confusing. |

That doesn't sound like the wheel on my player at all... you should only need to turn the wheel 90 degrees or so to wake up the player, and scrolling is normally very fast and smooth.
If it's a firmware bug, try updating to the latest version but if that doesn't fix it, it might be the wheel itself not working right. |

Uh oh, call San Disk's tech support. The CPU in your player is going dead. When it does the player will do nothing.

What I find curious is the fact that, the slow scrolling only happens in the album menu.
Other menus don't have any problems. If Fuze's CPU was going dead, shouldn't it happen in every menu?

Yes, it should. Hardware problems are consistent. If it was my Fuze, I'd try the firmware thing. If nothing else, you want to make sure you have the latest one on there.

this may be just a shot in the dark but you could also check your tags?. I have found that bad tagging can do some crazy things to your player..ie: freezing to the point of having to do a hard reset. When I cleaned up my tags the problems disappeared.
Edit: the other thing I would consider is reformatting your player..after first backing up it's contents...(photo's, music, video). Another problem solver.

Are you by chance displaying album art in the album list? That can cause browsing to be very slow, especially with larger album art files. If you resize your art to 120x120 (the size of album art on the full cover screen), it make it much faster.
I don't find the feature useful anyway, so I usually turn it off in Settings. |

All my album art is 120x120. And extremely buggy too, but I don't care about it anyways. The tagging is also ok.
Maybe I'll do a backup and try a hard reset to see if there is any good difference. Thank you all |

Worst case scenario, maybe try syncing with a different media manager, in case something got confused on its way to the player?

I had the EXACT same problem with my 8GB. But when I first got my Fuze I originally copied all my mp3 files (individual files) in the same directory. Then I re-did it with artist and album subfolders via MediaMonkey. This fixed the scroll delay problem with the albums.

I tried the hard reset, but the problem maintains.
I'll try ekseks solution, when I find time to do it. My MUSIC folder has 1000 mp3 files spread out. Thank you all |

1000 mp3's all in one folder? i think that's the problem. Maybe you can sort it with albums/artists etc in separate folders.
