April 21st or there abouts Bluetooth 3.0 will be released.
Samsung has remained on the cutting edge of Bluetooth implementation in it's PMPs. The Bluetooth chip used in the P3 is firmware upgradeable. Anyone want to take bets the P3 will be on the supported devices listed at the announcement? I'd love to have Bluetooth syncing and much faster file transfer. All opinions welcome. |

Would be wonderful if Samsung could upgrade it to version 3.0, though I doubt there will be much in the market that would support 3.0 anytime soon. 2.1 till this day is still far from ubiquitous on bluetooth devices.

i bet you that the touch and iphone will both have them this summer. I wouldn't expect apple to add an already old bluetooth profile.

The Touch 3.0 beta software enables bluetooth 2.1. AFAIK it's a default feature of the chip used, and didn't require a reprogramming of the chip to make work. Bluetooth 3.0 WILL require a reprogrammimg of that chip and as said before Apple will no doubt charge Touch owners another $10 to $25 for the "update".

The only way I think bluetooth 3.0 will be available is if Samsung actually releases a wifi adapter and add the functionalities to the firmware. I can imagine however that the battery life will be cut even shorter if one ever chooses to enable the bluetooth 3 file transfer or using the wifi aggressively.

Part of what 3.0 includes is better power management. The nice thing about wireless tech on these devices is that they can be turned off when you want to save battery, and only turned on when you really want to use them.

no need it is also very fast file transfer and upgrading it could end in cpu and processor failures
