Default Painting the front?

hey i used my sansa at work (dirt mulch and rocks) so needless to say the front looks a little "loved"
i was thinkin about painting the front like i saw someone else do to their back
after taking it apart a couple times, i know how the insides work but the front has a metal casing to hold the buttons securely that it attached with melted plastic
thoughts?
i also scratched up the screen considerably (poly-carbon case broke and did bad things) so does anyone have any ideas as to what i might do to make it a little better short of buying a refurb or broken e200 and replacing the front?

For the scratches I used a special polish for plastic watch glasses... It's called PolyWatch and you basically just rub it in the screen. Worked great for me. I bought it in a watchshop a few years ago. I don't know what the longterm effect is though... only just applied it.
