Unhappy Audio Conversion Question? WMP11

Hi,
Just a basic question. In Windows Media Player 11,I rip my CD's in the WMA Lossless format. Why do they have to be "converted" when I sync them to my player? I'm assuming the player can not handle lossless WMA files. If not, what are the max bit rates it can handle? Thanks

WMA lossless is not supported by the Fuze, and probably wouldn't play on any player except a Zune. If you really want to rip with WMP11, and you like the WMA, use the Variable Bit Rate option...that will play on the Fuze, without taking up quite so much space. There are better formats and tools to rip with out there, however.

WMA Lossless has very little industry support. You're pretty much stuck with MS. If you are going to go to the trouble to rip lossless, you would be much better off with an accurate ripper like EAC or dbPoweramp and a widely supported open format like FLAC.
