Default Samsung P3 or Sony NWZX1050B

hey,
I wanna buy a new mp3 player and found these touchscreen players. Til now I thought I was gonna buy the sony but today i found there is this player from samsung and it's really cheap (compared to the sony)

Now I'm not sure which I should buy. I like the Sony design a bit more and it has an oled screen but the Samsung is cheaper and has a lot more functionality.

So I wanted to know if you can recommend the P3 (over the Sony) and how are the earbuds coming with the P3?

Well would you use the WiFi frequently?
I also read that the Sony doesn't support some audio formats that to me are kinda popular (FLAC for one). I'm not 100% sure on that info though.

Nope, no FLAC support, and it's wayyyyyy overpriced. The P3, for the features and sq you get, is the better of the 2.

- P3's Earbuds won't be a good as what comes with the Sony. Choose any better pair to use with it.
- Sony's noise-cancelling feature REQUIRES the earbuds it comes with. No using a better pair if you want it's main unique feature.
- No one here (that I know of) has had a Sony to try out.
- The P3 is a great sounding player.
- There are other touchscreen players out there too. Cowon S9 for one.

The Sony will have a better screen than the P3.
The P3 has a flash player and widgets and unique bluetooth functions.
Also, the wifi and everything else already said.

Basically, it all boils down to what you want in a PMP.

Sony's screen may look more colorful (OLED) but will be lower in resolution than the P3.

I think I'll go with the P3 but I have a last question, can you control the P3 "blind" (or in your pocket)?

Not easily, it has volume switches on the top, though. The Sony is plastic and overpriced imho.

Also bear in mind that although they look like very similar devices, the p3 is a big screened ipod nano, where as the x1000 is a small screened itouch. Although they cross over, they seem to be designed for different market sectors. And in the UK you save at least 50 by buying the p3 over the x1000, and that would buy you some pretty good earphones with the money saved.

Converts to $365 U.S.. Is promising. Needs to hit $299 IMO though.

I think 229 quid for 32GB is a fair price given a good screen. I'd still go for a multi file format player which keeps things simple like the P3.

Well given that the P3 is going to be 150 for 32GB in July, there's no contest.

WiFi = good. No drag n drop video (only 320 x 240) No Ogg / Flac support (I'm pretty sure) Sony's typical lackluster firmware updates, big price difference = bad.

No, no games. Also, they removed the "SenseMe" feature from this player (X1000 series). Sony is a strange beast.

I can understand their way of thinking in not opening it up for apps, games etc.. but why have such a nice interface then ruin it with such a crappy browser? Using my phone as a hotspot in the shop yesterday I was able to connect to the net but why bother? The browser is way short of your average mobile.
