Default Can the annoying Samsung boot up/down audio be removed?

The extremely annoying sound on power up/down is bugging me. There seems to be no way of getting rid of this. I would even be happy if I could turn it down it but no, the alert/key press volume settings have no effect on it. It's particularly annoying if I'm using low impedence earphones as any low volume setting I have on the player is ignored and blasts out my ear drums.
This used to realy get on my nerves with the old T9 too. I used it sometimes on low volume on the sleep timer in bed, only to find that when it turned itself off, I would be ripped out my slumber by the excessively loud power down theme. Kind of defeats the object of having a sleep timer in the first place when you've got an alarm wake up call at the end of it!

It's loud if you listen to it through your phones- I don't connect my phones unless I'm listening to music, and always unplug them before switching off.

Yes, I'm learning to do that through aversion therapy!

Unless you can hack into it though I don't see a workaround. I managed to delete the annoying Nokia startup tone from my phone using a file explorer.

wait, on the P2, the start up sound was only as loud as the previous volume settings.. are you trying to tell me that this isn't the case for the P3!

No- it's quiet tbh, only loud if you have phones on.

Agreed! It's annoying and should allow the option of switching on/off.
I would much prefer the P3 to have the startup/shutdown in silence.

Why do samsung love to stick sounds on their devices.. I have a samsung phone and the damn thing never shuts up! i've learned to live with it, but seriously, its a samsung thing, a trade mark if you will.

you can get rid of the start up sound if you change your booting image. i dunno how to change the unbooting image though so still makes a sound as it shuts down. it also seems to start faster when the boot image is changed.

It's also faster if you turn off transparency- I was never really clear what transparency did- or didn't do with the display.
Also if you're listening to music, press stop, then power off, when it reboots it'll go straight to that screen soundlessly and quickly.

I've changed the boot image and I think you're right about speeding up boot time; however this only has any impact if the player hasn't been turned off for long. If you're powering up after it's been off for a few hours (i.e. overnight), you're treated to the original Samsung screen splash and audio, followed by the chosen custom start up screen. It seems Samsung can't bare the prospect of being forgotten. I'm wondering if there is a flash file somewhere in the system that is used for power down. If that was replaced with a different file but with the same properties and name.....Hmmm
I've had this player a couple of days and starting to like it. I think I would like it a whole lot more if I wasn't forced to be assimilated by Samsung - but I suspect Resistance is Futile
