I have a Sansa View 8gb w 16Gb sdhc in MicroSD
w latest firmware and all the music files apear 4-6 times when I browse the song list in the Music tab using Sansa lates firmware I think maybe the Song Database is corrupted or mucked up... How can I reinitialise the Database without formatting or in any way deleting the Music files? wish I could put Rockbox on this... Please advise TIA Dave |

You could try CHKDSK, error-checking but if that doesn't help, either you have to format or re-firmware or both. If so, you will lose all the music, don’t you have tunes backed up? Also are your tags correct, this should avoid duplicates in the future.

Its the expansion card. I gave up on using the expansion card due to the duplicate problem. Without the card, no problem.
I'm not sure I will ever buy another sansa because of my View experience. The player has so much potential if they'd just make a few firmware fixes. |

- Don't rule out other sansa's cause of one bad exp. The Clip and Fuze rock! - Not much potential in a player that seemed doomed from the start, no wonder it's been discontinued, but this is only my opinion

- I could try the Panasonic formatter. Thank you for the idea. I might. But I've had enough grief from the microsd cards for now. I've tried it with several microsd cards. It might be a formatting issue but it really feels like a firmware problem. I'm not wasting much more time. I bought this player to entertain me not as a personal time consumer.
- I had an e200. I loved it and still love it but it is my wife's now. This is not just one bad experience it is several years seeing Sansa go from being a company that tried with the e200 to a company that says "screw you" to View users. - We bought their "flagship" and they are burning us. I am sure the other models rock but with a few firmware fixes the View could rock as well. This loyal customer (2 e200s and 1 View) is now looking elsewhere for his next player.
