I've heard that the EmoDio service will be discontinued and was wondering if Samsung is going to come up with a better software solution for the p3's?? Honestly, I could give a damn about emodio as it really defeats the whole purpose of adding anything to the P3 as it usually never transfers or do anything 'right' other than music files...drag and drop was just easier than that emodio crap nonsense...
However, I really love some of the UCI's that are available through the service...but problem is, I could never transfer any of those UCI's as the software either crashes or doesn't send anything at all to the p3...? I really do hope that the p3 does well, so that eventually we'll have 'good' support and maybe another firmware update(?) are the p2's UI's compatible with the p3's?? I found more luck finding more styles for the p2's than the recent p3's....?

I've not had any luck doing anything with Emodio. Not media. Not UCIs. Nothing. It crashes as if that was the only thing it was designed to do.
I switched to MediaMonkey since WMP is horrible. |

I drag and drop. Rip with WMP though.

*Grabs his shovel* Can’t we just burry it alive? All I know is that when it's gone, maybe I'll sacrifice a teddy graham or a Mars Bar to the Samsung gods for their benevolence in ridding the world of such a blasphemous Interface.

I already have buried it alive... or most of it. I still use it to manage DNSe profiles... sometimes. Sliders on the touchscreen are hard to use

I don't think they intend to close the emodio.com site, but instead the music stores available in some countries. Yes, it's primarily there for P2 UCIs, but it's also a source for TTS voices and firmware updates.

While that may be true, Samsung is probably seeing that it has been sitting around. So they are deciding to cancel the service. Which sucks for all the P2 users who constantly use EmoDio. All this plus the fact that the P3 (and even other Samsung players are hard to find, except at Target -_-) makes me wonder if Samsung is starting to give up on the Mp3 player business...

Their MP3 players sell fine in Korea. It's their failure to advertise in other countries that keeps them from selling more around the world.

is it failure to advertise or have they just not bothered because the market is flooded and not that big in other countries
in the UK the mass majority use their phones as all in one devices, especially the younger generation The only company selling PMP players that advertise nationally in the UK is Apple, i will never see an ad for the P3 on national TV here i am sure of that, not sure why samsung appear not bothered about PMP, maybe due to the fact alot of their phones are so PMP orientated they see the pure PMP market as a non starter and just for the enthusiast, and that is not big bucks for them |

Exactly, thats more what I meant. Samsung is saying "why bother?" with the European and American (I mean north, south, central America, not just US) markets seeing as those are already flooded with Apple.

maybe they're just waiting for iPower to end, and for the market to balance out some more.
Macintosh was virtually bankrupt in the 1990s (I think thars right :S), so what is to say ipod wont fall from its pedestal as well? And lets face it, the sort of people at the moment who chose not to buy an ipod are in one of two catogories 1)Cant afford a real ipod, so buy a cheaper alternative 2)Are specialists/geeks/us/techy people, who know what's available unlike other people. There's no point advertising to group 1, because they just want a cheap player (eg sansa fuze) and as long as the box has pretty words and acronyms that sound like this is a good deal, then they'll be content With group 2, free viral marketing is much more efficient. The AMP3 newsletter and this site tell me whats on the market and even offer me user reviews, and youtube and other blogs/forums can offer me additional information. Lets bear in mind that I'm only getting the P3 because Dreamnine showed me the deal at play.com, and many other people chose their player based on the recommendation we geeks recreational enthusiasts give them. So dont say samsung is saying why bother, because in the market we've got to accept that nothing will happen until apple cocks up/an uber player is released that moves the masses away from apple, since the companies just cant afford advertisement and probably wouldn't reap many rewards from it. also, +1 maderin1
