I'm using windows 7 and just purchased a Fuze. I'm transferring all my music to it by just dragging and dropping it but it's only transferring at 2.66 MB/second. It's in a USB 2.0 slot.... shouldn't it be going a bit faster than that?

Nope, the transfer rate sounds alright. Its the slow memory that is dragging it down.

Okay, thanks. I guess it's not as if I will transfer music across THAT often once it's full but I just wanted to be sure it was correct.

In windows XP SP3 and Ubuntu linux, the maximum speed I get is about 1MB/s ...
Defective unit?

1 MBps is kinda slow, but if there are no errors during the transfer process, I wouldn't say its defective. Maybe SanDisk has specified some minimum transfer rates that all units must be able to accomplish? I don't know - if thats the case, you might be able to return it.

Sounds like your computer is stuck in USB1 mode.

Then I don't know why you're limited to USB1 speeds.
