@mezzyjones: Good eye. I didn't even pay attention to the icons. I wonder if SenseMe has been dropped or if it just doesn't have a front page icon anymore. It might be relegated to a menu item now. I noticed that the bottom center icon is different too (Podcast), and a "Mic" icon has been added for recording.

@Dreamnine: I hope it has FM recording also. The info on the new E series at the Sony UK site lists mic and FM recording in the printed specs, and they are both mentioned in the video too. All we have to go by is that the current S series has all of the features of the current E series, plus more. So if next year's E series has mic and FM recording, hopefully the S series will have it too.

Is it safe to say this will be another Sony flash player that will have a nice sized screen, yet album art that is way too small. I cannot stand it when a player has a decent sized screen, and doesn't take advantage of the space.

@mysticstylez: I'm with you on this one. With a 240x320 screen, there is no reason why you can't have 240x240 album art and still have room left for the other ID3 info. I think they waste too much space on genre, EQ modes, etc.

@Dreamnine: With the E series going to 16GB, you might be in luck with a 32GB S series.

While I applaud them for letting me be able to click down to artist, album, year, and genre to browse music....it is not needed.

Its not so much the size. I'm not cool with it just looking like a picture on top of the real music UI, it looks unprofessional. Also you have to make the extra button presses to get to that, is it so hard for Sony to just make the default music screen have album art that size?

It looks like S series photos with E series specs to me. Interesting to note that even the new E series lists audio recording as a new feature, although there is still only 1 external headphone jack (no mic input). @h1a8: These specs are for the new E series, not the S series (S series hasn't been officially announced yet): Click Here, the second line from the bottom says "Useful voice and FM recording function (in MP3) with a built-in microphone". Also, this video (at 1m 49s) says "with it's voice and FM recorder function". Regarding WAV audio, that is the same as "Linear PCM", which is listed as one of the formats that it plays.
