Planning to buy a fuze in two weeks. Came across this link from amazon which sells new fuze for $56.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Sansa-...0165948&sr=1-3 Can i find it cheaper than $56? Is there a better player at this price range? Is the bundled ear-phones good? Else suggest a decent pair of in-ear buds for < $20. Last edited by karthi007; 08-13-2009 at 08:22 AM. |

I dont wanna buy a refurb. Going for a new one.
My major concern is bass. How is the CX300. Is the PL-30 a better option? |

$56 is a decent price. And if you like bass, CX300 would be much better than PL-30.

How good are the sony earphones?
MDR-EX35LP/B and the like. Have a sony w580i and HPM-70 earphones. I like the bass offered by it. Can the fuze + sony earphones create the same effect? |

Is the clip a better choice at $46?
My main use is to use the MP3 during jogging and commuting. How is the sound quality of the clip when compared to the fuze? |

I have both the Clip and the Fuze. The Fuze seems to have a slightly higher power output than the Clip. The Fuze has much easier navigation than the Clip, due to the scroll wheel on the Fuze, the larger display, and folder navigation on the Fuze with the latest firmware. The Fuze has much longer battery life than the Clip, around 20 hours vs 12 hours in real world usage. The Fuze has a micro SDHC card slot which the Clip lacks. The only advantages to the Clip are the smaller size, built in Clip, and use of a standard mini USB connector(vs a proprietary one for the Fuze). The Fuze also has a clock(which the Clip lacks), and a much larger display. The Clip seems like it would be better than the Fuze for gym use where you want to clip the smallest possible player to your shirt and let albums play through while working out. For most other uses though, the Fuze seems like a better choice. If you plan to use the Fuze for jogging, I suggest that you get a skin or case for it that has a clip on it so that you can secure the player to your shirt, an armband, or your waist. If you put it in a tee shirt pocket, it might get damaged by sweat if you perspire heavily while jogging.
The Clip and the Fuze have around the same sound quality, although the Fuze is a bit better due to its slightly higher power output. I suggest the use of an efficient 16 ohm earphone with them to get the best sound quality and longest battery life. I suggest avoiding headphones higher than 32 ohms or less than around 104 db/mw with them, to get the best performance. Last edited by JK98; 08-18-2009 at 08:28 AM. |

The CX300 is good and cheap, however some have complained that the CX300 does produce plenty of audible sound when the wires brush against clothing. I don't have a CX300 yet, so I can't personally comment on this.

Thanks for the info
What earphones do you use. I am looking for decent options below $30. Will the EP-630 or PL-30 make a better pair with the fuze?

I use several different earphones with my players. I have accumulated many different earphones over the years. I usually don't use isolating earphones, as I need to hear what is going on around me while i am walking. be careful when using isolating earphones.

Is there any other non-isolating headphones in the same price bracket that can match the EP-630, PL-30 etc...

"could you recommend a good relatively inexpensive (over the ear) headphone? "
Koss Sportapro is around $20 on Amazon. A great deal. It is a bit bassy with recessed highs. It is basically the same as the Portapro but at a lower price. If you like sound on the brighter side, the Koss KTX pro1 is around $15 and brighter than the Sportapro. PS. My guess was that you meant supraaural(pressing against the ear) when you said "over the ear", and not circumaural(surrounding the ear). This time I when I read it, I thought perhaps that you might want a circumaural headphone? "Is there any other non-isolating headphones in the same price bracket that can match the EP-630, PL-30 etc... " Do you mean earphones? If so, see if you can find the Sennheiser MX400 or MX500 earphones. Some places sell them for under $15. If you want an isolating earphone, consider the Sennheiser CX300 at around $20.
