Fuze + DT-770-80ohm, without amp?

Will the fuze be able to power Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm without an headphone amplifier?

I wouldn't recommend it, based on my experience with the Sony V6 and the Fuze. While the Fuze powers the V6 to a loud enough volume, the sound quality is not at its best. The V6 is 63 ohms 106 db/mw efficiency, while the DT770 80 ohms is 105 efficiency. The Fuze works much better with my Sony CD850 headphones than with the V6. The CD850 is 32 ohms and 102 db/mw, yet it plays louder and much cleaner with the Fuze than my V6. My Sony E888 earphones(16 ohms, 108 efficiency) can go to earsplitting volume levels with the Fuze, and sound great with it at reasonable volumes.

The Fuze works best with 16 ohm earphones, but it will do okay with headphones up to 32 ohms or so that are at least 104 efficiency. I would not recommend using the Fuze with headphones that are much over 32 ohms. I also tried using the Fuze with my Koss Portapro(60 ohms, 101 efficiency), and was not so pleased with the combination.
If you already have that headphone, then imo a Cowon D2+ or i7 would be a better player to use with it.

Think things through before before you make such silly claims. Loading an mp3 player harder doesn't make it sound better, else headphones amps wouldn't work with the Fuze. The Fuze/Clip are nice in that they tolerate loads very, very well but that doesn't mean loading them makes them better! You still have less distortion at 32 then 16 and less at 48 then 32.

Probably the sensitivity, not the impedance. They can claim 101dB/mw but often those numbers are simply made up.

It seems Cowon D2+ would be the best to pair with the DT-770-80 because of the very good sound quality and the high power output, and also it can be expanded with 32GB!
Any contradictions?

With higher impedance there is lower distortion, but also lower volume. At the same volumes, the distortion will be higher using the higher impedance headphone.

The D2+ only allows 4,000 songs maximum on the internal memory, and 4,000 maximum on the card memory. If you use a higher bitrate this might not be much of a factor, and you could fill a 32 GB card with music, but with 128 kbps and 4 minutes average per song for example, you would only be able to fully utilize a 16 GB card for music.

What is your basis for this claim? This would only be true if reaching the same volume level required the amp to clip. Most amplifiers produce higher distortion driving low-impedance loads, period (although the audibility of .05% distortion vs. .02% is debatable).

By your logic, driving an amplifier with a 10,000 Ohm input impedance would cause the mp3 player to be unlistenable.

u could just buy a fiio e3 or e5 and use whatever phones u want with the fuze/clip

they are cheap at dealextream or a few other sites.

you can also get them from mp4nation (tho mp4 nation has its own brand of players that kickass as well!!!)

Wouldn't such a cheap amp be a weak link with the Fuze and DT-770?
(I really don't know much about "expensive" headphones and apms, so I'm asking.)

The E5 actually acquits itself quite well, even against some higher-priced competitors.
