P3 wins IMO, it's a great player! I'm not a Sony fan either, Samsung sure beats Sony in general so call me biased .

Since you're asking this in a P3 forum, what do expect we'll say?

I've got both, and given how expensive the Sony X is I have to recommend the....

From what I've read the X Series edges it.

Feature wise, I'd say the X-1000
Sound though, either the P3 or the S9

I agree with triarii.

P3 for the price.
Cowon S9 for awesomeness
and the X-1000 for Wifi, screen, and noise cancellation.

My P3 so far has been disappointing compared to my P2. Audio play is fine. Video play is fine. What gripes me is how they've made the UI worse. If you have a P2 that still works, you don't need a P3. JMHO.

App-wise the X1000 is bare bones compared to either of the Samsungs. No games. No calendar. No alarm. No Flash support. No subway maps. No Widgets, etc.. The unique features it has are Web Browser (horrible), YouTube (hard to enter search words), Noise cancelling (only works with included earbuds), Podcast App (tricky, but good), and Slacker (limited or costs a monthly fee). You get a couple of WiFi links in the Music app. The Photo app is basic (no zoom or rotate). Video codec and resolution support is very limited.

What you do get with a P3 - and I had this with the T10 - is a player that's mostly metal (and glass).
Purely aesthetic, but it is nice.

Yup the DNSE 3.0 really cancels out the 'laggy' UI. It's not even that laggy. Sure, it's not iPod Touch responsive but hey, at least it responds. Even if the X100 sounds a tiny bit better than the P3, the P3 has the advantage. With so many sound settings, this player gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to sound quality. Also, this is the P3 forum...so you can't expect someone to tell you to choose the X100 over the P3. Anyways, go with the P3. You've got Bluetooth, DNSE, useful widgets, and the vibewoofer is kinda fun to turn on when you get bored.
