I read it. I guess their podcast today has them talking about both the S-series and the Clip+, but I haven't heard it yet. I'll not draw any conclusions from her review, or the comments on the podcast, until I have Enzo's review to compare with.

Cnet reviews aren't THAT bad.

They're a little pretentious, but it gives you a general idea of whats going on.

On a side note, apparently everything with speakers now looks like a cellphone?

Apparently so, although I've never seen a cellphone that looks like the new S-Series

Right, since iSheeps aren't able to make playlists by themselves.

It's good that she's looking out for her target audience

well the cnet asia review mentions that the walkmans are only mtp for windows, but you can force it into UMS and thus solve that problem.

also cnet asia review states the speakers are on the back? if so whats the point of the holes in the front O_0

Guess it's a good thing I don't make playlists then. I either shuffle all, shuffle artist, or listen to an album...as long as a player does those things, I could give a rat's anus about playlists.

I would miss the SenseMe, too. Not a deal-breaker but a good feature to have. The speakers I wouldn't use at all.

Sony must have been stung by the 'expensive' label and hope these new models will appeal.

you took the words out of my mouth. I really liked the SenseMe feature, and I cannot imagine myself using those tiny speakers. I rather invest in a decent pair of headphones.

I understand Jasmine that she got baffled about the good S-Series being dragged down with a rather cheap 2nd-gen S-Series

Agree with above.

The cheapness might be because of the complaints they got about the price of the X series.

And apparently, the only way Sony knows to make things cheaper is to strip away features. (Like on the PS3?)

I know what you mean, to me the speakers seem more like a gimmick.

Anyway if they had just added an expansion slot to the old S-Series it would have been the perfect player for me

Edit: Here's the link for the podcast Marvin mentioned if you want to see her rant.

She said that the placement of the speakers makes it look like a cellphone; I think I agree.

I certainly agree with Dreamnine that I'd have no use for the speakers and that the omission of SensMe is unfortunate, though not a deal-breaker. (I should add that SensMe made some strange choices as regards my own music collection -- e.g. piano solo pieces in Extreme -- so I don't use it that much.)

Glad I got a first gen S series model.

SenseMe isn't perfect - apparently you can use the Sony software to manually over-ride selections; I've just never gotten round to it.

Sense me was awful. Why would Jasmine ever like it?
It had a serious bug where it would duplicate and move files to different folders, I browsed by folders only. When I would look into a certain folder there would be songs in it from other folders and songs missing. When I corrected it (moved the files back to where they belong) it would continue to redo it. Awful indeed!!!

Plus the feature sucked major butt. Many songs had nothing to do with the setting. I'm glad it's gone, good riddance.
