I didn't know it was possible to make a playlist on the U3 itself. I think you have to create it on the computer first and then transfer it.

i think the only way to make one is to use their supplied software.

here is how i did it:
1. create an album and place your music files in it.
2. open the directory of your choice to put your music files.
3. go back to "my album" (where you can find Exercise, Study, Driving...)
4. choose your playlist to be transfered then click the transfer to portable button.

If ever you will have a playlist that has some of the music already in the player, just remeber no to overwrite for the sake of the player.

Default Playlists for the YP-U3 using winamp

The only way I have been able to make playlists is by using winamp:

in the winamp media library, go to playlists
import files into playlist
rename playlist (optional)
Right click on the playlist name in the library sidebar and SEND TO: YP-U3 (the player needs to be plugged in, obviously. Winamp will detect automatically).

That's it.

I use the latest version of winamp, btw.

Thanks, it works like a charm; it even automatically converts the .m3u playlist to a .pla playlist.

WRONG, play listing on the u3 is so simple.

go to music folder, slect music you want, rclick and "create playlist" rename the playlist created, done.

if you are going to make playlists for a bunch of diffrent things, put said things into the same folders, make the playlist in that folder.

example, i have the mudvayne discography, I made a folder named "mudvayne" then put each albums folder within the mudvayne folder, I then slected all the album folders, rclicked and hit create playlist, renamed the playlist "Mudvayne" leaving it in the mudvayne folder.

for album play lists, make the playlist within the albums folder do not move playlists to the playlist folder, they will endup not working properly.

I use my U3 with playlists exclusivly, and have never needed winamp or any other 3rd party program to make playlists on the player.....

another example, the u3 is a normal MTP device, you MAY need to install a newer version of WMP(i never have had to...but you may need to)

I have had this work on windows 2000, xp, 2003, xp x64, vista, server 2008 and never had any problems.
