It's just a marketing matter. "M1" sounds like a new product whereas "P4" sounds like a rehash.

Series don't live a long time. Except the "U" and the "T" (RIP) series

There isn't to much effort put into the M1 OS other than being ported from the P3 with several addons.

I would prefer they have a life cycle of several years like 7 or 8 years on a product, rather than the current 2 years. If they even plan to take on apple, this type of change would be needed to compete against the ipod.

Well look at it this way...if the P3 dynasty is close to close, at least we can say we were part of a great dynasty. Besides I'm not to fussed, I still haven't updated from 2.14 firmware. But I agree with DS, Samsung is getting way to confusing with all it's letter/number combos.

Yes, most likely. No P4 planned for 2010 as far as I know and a P4 in 2011 ... I don't believe it
The P3 has been released end of december 2008 in Korea.
M1 will be released early october 2009. So 9 months between.
The P2 has been released end of 2007. Without the P3, there would have been 2 years between the P2 and the M1. Impossible for a technological product!
So without a P3, the P3 fanboys as you say, would all have bought a Cowon S9!
But as I'm now in touch with the P2/P3/M1 Korean developper I will be able to ask him if there is a specific reason that I don't know

I didn't buy an S9 because the P3 was coming out.. Now all I want is my A Series - nothing's going to stop me.

I'm planning on getting an S9 when I can. Maybe check out the A Series too.

Kinda feels like lord of the rings... Except we're the fellowship of the P3.., and now we're going other ways after the quest... >.<

the Cowon S9 is looking better and better, especially with FDX (err DNW's) Aero G1 theme...

sadly, cash doesn't grow on the trees where Im from..

and I agree with the quest thing, couldn't have put it better myself

That's why I still have my Q2. If I had the money for a higher-end Samsung, then I would let the Q2 go....but for the foreseeable future I'll be hanging onto it.

Thank you lebellium for your support to us P3 owners!

I have only had my Samsung P3 for a few months so I would be highly, no extremely disappointed if they do not still release more updates for it.

And I love Samsung, as I've said before, I've got HD TV's, Phones, computer parts etc all from them and I love their stuff, nothing's really better.

I don't want to sound negative, I just would be very annoyed if this happened.

hahaha exactly lol dont even try except for some reason sony goes the other way... their stuff gets worse and worse a new stuff comes out like the launch 60gb ps3 was the best you could get and now they came out with the slim one that just plain sucks it lol

Same here. Samsung phone, P3, monitor, memory.
Really wish they would make a sound card with DNSe 3.0 on it. I'd like what way more than the SoundBlaster X-Fi I have now; X-Fi never really impressed me.

GUYS, I am Korean and I read it and it's not marking the end of the P3.. It's just an edition that kinda reaches to the ppl nostalgic about olden days of Korea. It includes a vintage UI and 500 old classic songs for you to enjoy.. There's also a Karaoke on it! WOAH! yeah.....
