Looking for a cheap PMP and the Fuze might fit the bill. I have a few questions for you Sansa fans...
1. how is the overall build quality? i had a (admittedly refurb'd) e200 and it was a piece of junk. the center button popped off after 10 minutes of use and the headphone jack lost 1 channel after about 2 months of use. was this common with the e200? 2. does the Fuze support gapless playback without the rockbox? if not, can you rockbox all versions of the Fuze? 3. how would you rate the overall SQ as compared to say a highly rated Cowon? 4. if you use a microSD card, does it integrate with the main memory of the player? or are they considered two seperate sources? thanks!!! |

2. No, and rockbox works only on V1 models, not officially ready but lots of people are using it now. 3.If you don't use EQ, the sound is very good. The EQ on it sucks though. 4. It does integrate. When loading the player, it's like two memories, but after you disconnect, it's all one memory.

1. It looks pretty solid except for the centre button that feels cheap, but the truth is that I still never heard of anyone, who broke it. I've mine for almost a year and it looks new except for a single small scratch.
2. The official FW doesn't support it at the moment, but maybe it will in the future. About rockbox, there is only one advanced development project which dedicates to Fuze v1. As far as I know, there is no study in v2. Sorry if this part is kind of confusing to read, but my English isn't the best. ![]() 3. Check it -> http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archi...uze-review.php -> http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f15/po...won-s9-439987/ 4. It integrates perfectly. Hope I helped

1. Build quality's solid and sturdy enough.
2. No, and Rockbox is only the V1 models, though it's unstable but usable. 3. Without the EQ the Fuze sounds great. If you use the EQ though the Cowon easily wins. 4. It does integrate, although I've never tried it.

Have my Fuze for 2 years now. Looks as good as the day I bought it. My v1 is Rockboxed and have had no problems with it. Joy to use!

I don't think the fuze has been out 2 years yet.
My fuze has also held up well, but like Marvin I babied it until fairly recently. |

I've had 3 e200's. I gave one to a friend who's been using it and treating it roughly for 2 years and it's still like new except for a lot of scratches. I still have 2 of them and, while they've been given careful treatment they've both been used a lot. One of them I use to lend to friends from time to time and I have no idea how it's been treated.
None of these have ever given me any problems at all. They're solid. I also have a Fuze and it seems to be just as solid although I haven't used it nearly as much. Barry |
