P3 with DRM Audiobooks (Overdrive Media)

Howdy,

I'm interested in getting a P3, but I need to make sure it supports Overdrive Media WMA-DRM audio books. If so, will it support these books via UMS?

I downloaded the manual for the P3 and it looks like it doesn't support these types of files. Any one tried it?

Also, is it possible to switch back and forth from MTP to UMS whenever I want? Would I lose data?

I would like to use the P3 on a Mac, Ubuntu, and Windows machine...

For the rest i don't know, i won't buy anything that's not no-drm mp3, precisely to avoid having to worry about "can i read it"

Thanks so much for your quick reply and clear answers!

The only thing left for me to check before buying the P3 is whether it works with Overdrive. The testing method is simple and outlined on this link:

Basically, it involves using a Windows machine to download three sample WMA-DRM files from Overdrive and transferring them to the P3 to see if they work.

Would you, or some other kind P3 owner, be willing to test the compatibility for me before I buy the device?

Edit: Yes, it works fine. My P3 is always in UMS (MSC) mode and I didn't change anything - the program
transferred the files over and they play fine.

Thanks for checking this out for me! This is the true power of the internet and abi forums!

I'm glad to know that the P3 works with Overdrive! I wanted a player that works on Windows for Overdrive and my Mac that has my music library. Ubuntu support is an added bonus.

Looks like I found the winner! Now I need to find the P3 in stock somewhere.....
