lol, many people got the M1 before me and this official connection is sometimes restricting: for instance I cannot make a review of a Samsung mp3 player (that I got officialy) before it is released in France (was a huge problem for the P3 review, and may have been a problem for the M1 review too but fortunately I got a YEPP (korean) version).
Of course they do not give me the players just for fun, but I have to make reviews and I take a long long time doing that (usually from 2 to 4 weeks of work). I get many confidential information (next products etc...) but of course I'm not allowed to share what I know otherwise some people could be fired and that would be my fault: that's sometimes annoying as I like to tell you what I know and I'm obliged to fall silent! And finally Samsung guys watch over me (maybe a bit more on generationmp3 than here I hope).
So for you of course my situation looks cool and enviable 'cause I got all Samsung players for free but do not forget the background

How would you format your M1 if it cannot boot up or turn on.

While doing a firmware update, the cord got unplugged from the computer and now the firmware does not work. How would I be able to install/replace the firmware if I am unable to start up the M1.

Seems like the M1 forum is awfully quiet. Too bad because it is such a nice player - but difficult to get (ended up going through the most expensive route - ebay). I really like this player but I noticed a couple of questions that have remained unanswered: can you use an AC adapter (I know the manual advises against it)? And regarding the battery icon - it doesn't appear on my player(firmware 1.23) - I wonder if it is a firmware issue?

BTW: battery life seems pretty good. Not as good as S9, but better than Sony X series and Zune HD.

Battery icon widget only appear for the M1 version, not the MB1 version, just check your player, if you has DMB icon, then it is MB1.

Lebbelium: Any hints about a U.S. release for the M1? If not, could you get your Samsung contact to at least send me one? My collection of Samsung players looks empty without an OLED screen in there.

You always get products later and Samsung does not care about your country as competition with Apple is impossible

I only know we just got the 8Gb version in France

And you have to bear in mind Samsung subsidiaries do not get many pieces of each product. Samsung Korea only send every subsidiary few samples like the M1 I have. And if they want more, they have to buy their own mp3 players themselves (that's crazy I know!)

So I have a Korean YEPP sample and I'm still waiting for a French M1 to begin my gmp3 review

I appreciate the response A Tumiwa. I have the M1 (no DMB, no antenna). There is no battery widget, I have looked everywhere.
The good news is the device charges just fine with the cable(used cable from my S9) and ac adapter. If connected to computer it says 'usb connected' and battery icon indicates charging. If connected to ac adapter you get a nice large battery icon and it says recharging with the percentage. But no battery widget. I wish you could use the device while charging though.

a tumiwa - I have an 8 gb model that I got from S.Korea. Installed 1.23 firmware courtesy the link provided here. Yes there is a dictionary icon - and it provides english to korean or the other way around (unfortunately I don't understand Korean). The front of the device reads YEPP. When I start the device I am greeted with Samsung M1.
No real complaints though. It really is a nice device. I appreciate your interest/input/help.
