Default Workaround for freezing Zune HD's

Hi,
Since getting my device with the latest firmware, it randomly will freeze when listenting to music and pressing the power button (screen will stay blank for awhile, then it might come up but very slowly and then the screen will not respond to presses)...
A work around that worked at least once for me was to press the power button again to turn the screen off when you realize the screen is "frozen", then press the home button...the screen will come back and it works like nothing happened...

I think it's firmware...perhaps a memory leak?

Mine doesn't freeze, but it has been a tad less responsive after the firmware than it used to. And there's some lagginess sometimes that didn't used to be there.

I'm hoping it's not hardware...I don't have the experience of the old firmware to test this but others on the MS zune forum have had the freezing (a lot)...
It almost exclusively when you listen to music for awhile and try to power the screen on again...sometime it happens after 20 minutes of continuous play and sometimes after an hour or two...

When my ZHD freezes and doesn't come back on, I simply press the power button, the volume buttom, and the button that's right below the screen. I press and hold those those buttons down for no more than a minute. Then, on the screen it'll say to plug the device into the computer. I don't do that. After a few seconds, that screen will go away. Then I'll press the main power button on top of the ZHD, and the ZHD will come back on.

Don't do that, actually. I think it resets all your app data, so if you're playing PGR or something the save files are reset and you have to start over.

I've had to turn my ZHD on that way quite a few times, and all my Audiosurf data is still there. Nothing changed. Hopefully MS will fix this issue sooner rather than later.

Hi,
The only way to always get past the freezing for me is still to press the power button and basically reboot.
DeadmanIncWorldWideidn't work for me...stuck there at that screen asking me to connect to the computer so I had to press the power button to reboot...

Strange not everyone is getting this problem...if it's firmware related you would think everyone would see it...

Hm... my audiosurf scores, and resent songs got reset the last time I did this.

Essentially, you want to do this sorta thing at your own risk.

Sometimes my Zune HD freeze up and all I do is press Home button, release, press media button, release, and then power button. Zune HD will become normal again after one or two sequences .
