IRiver plays some APE files but not others

Overall I'm impressed with the E200 in terms of looks and sound quality and glad I can play FLAC now without bringing my laptop near to my amplifier.

But it seems that there is a problem with recognising APE files. So far, out of all my music in the APE format, my E200 only recognises and plays one album. When I try to play anything else in the APE format I get the "file format not supported" message.

Anyone know why my IRiver plays some APE files and not others?
