Default Cowon S9 Jet Effects Tutorial

Looking at how some people (including me at one time) have faced troubles understanding the User EQ pattern for the S9 Equalizer, I have created a 4 step tutorial that will guide you through with the process.

S9 User Jet Effects Tutorial

Let’s take a sample EQ for an example:

The trick is to see the EQ vertically and not horizontally, except for the last line.

Step 1: Click on the first bar from left. (Notice the red arrow pointing to it). This opens a screen similar to the kind that the blue arrow points to.

Step 2: Now if you notice the first column in the EQ settings given above i.e
  1. 12
  2. 80
  3. na

Here 12 is what you select under “Level“. (Notice the green arrow). Similarly 80 is what you select under Frequency and na (Narrow, different from Normal which is simply n) is to be chosen under bandwidth. Similarly, looking at the second column, i.e
  1. 7
  2. 385
  3. na

the process is repeated for the second bar (notice the yellow arrow), and repeated so until the last column is reached.

Step 3: Now coming to the last row i.e
we now click on the BBE+ button (marked by the orange arrow), you notice these options:
  1. BBE
  2. Mach3Bass
  3. 3D Surround
  4. MP Enhance

We assign 10 to BBE, 0 to Mach3Bass, 0 to 3D surround and on (sometimes it is also written as 1 for on, or 0 for off) to MP enhance.

Step 4: Next we proceed to the next screen, called STE (notice the pink Arrow) and where you can notice
  1. Stereo Enhance
  2. Reverb

Here the last two 0s are to be filled in.
That concludes our S9 User EQ tutorial.
Also, do check out some great EQs here.
