Also a thing to note with ID3 tags: there's 2 types/versions out there
the original standard ( ID3 v1 ) thats appended to the end of a MP3 file and a newer ( ID3 v2 ) thats at the beginning of a MP3 file ID3 v2 are not compatible with some players (hardware and/or software) or other MP3 related programs...personally i make a point to use only ID3 v1 tags on my files (and if i get one with an ID3 v2 tag i remove it with a free program called MP3 Tag Tools) this eliminates all problems. |

Most modern players and media software built/designed within the last several years are compatible with ID3v2. The problem is, there are several subversions of ID3v2, the newest one being ID3v2.4.
ID3v2.4 can be problematic because it's not well supported. I have found that some tagging software will actually write whole sets of v2.4 tags side-by-side with v2.3 tags - which really messes up some media players! Using ID3v2.3 is the safest way to tag your MP3 files. Be sure to use tagging software that will automatically keep your songs' v1 tags in sync with their v2 tags in order to avoid issues mismatching tags can cause (similar to v2.3 <> v2.4 mismatches).

I recently uploaded about 500 tracks to my zen x-fi2 and none of the tags are recognized. They are not listed under artist, only if I go to unknown artist and unknown album they are all listed their without any information, just the song titles. I verified that all the songs do indeed have their tags.
Whats wrong? |

There are two types of ID3 tags (that I know about), maybe your songs have the older kind added to them or something and the player only supports the newer?

There are also two types of artist: "Artist" and "Album Artist".
From what I have tried the Zen only reads "Artist" and ignores "Album Artist" |
