Updating a UK s545 with US firmware to increase sound

Basically I've just had to replace my s639f with a s545, and have noticed that the sound is considerably quieter and through reading other people's reviews have put it down to european legislation. So I've figured that if I was to upgrade my firmware to a US one I might sidestep this legislation. Just wondering firstly would this work, and secondly may this damage or corrupt my mp3 player?

I believe Sony provides an executable upgrading program. Doesn't it check the device first before going any further on the flashing procedure ?

Hi, check my previous posts, ive tried mine with a malaysian firmware flash upgrade, the unit firmware updated fine but didnt make a tiny bit difference to the sound...your welcome to try as long as you follow the firmware upgrade instructions you should be fine.
