Default Zen NX charge socket broken

Hi im new to the forum and not very technical . I have purchased a Zen NX 30 gig player . It works via a charged battery , but the charge jack/socket is broken .It has been pushed inside . Does anyone know if it can be opened up and repaired , resoldered , and if so how , any picture threas etc . Thanks .

Moved to the Zen Xtra subforum, since they are very closely related.

I can't find a disassembly guide for the NX; but from my experience with the Xtra, it's very straightforward. If you are handy with tools and a soldering iron, then taking the NX apart should not be much of a challenge. If I recall, it involves popping off the front plate to expose the battery, and undoing the two screws holding the back plate. Removing the front plate should also expose the four screws securing the hard drive. With all this removed, the mainboard should be easy to take out.

Thanks for the reply , i have a mate who fixes laptops i think its a job he could handle easily . Do you know if i can use the zen nx with the software installed on my pc for zen xtra ? The pc recognised it as new software but doesnt seem to register it in zen creative media source organiser. Not sure where to post this question sorry . Thanks again

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. The way the legacy Nomad-era players worked, software-wise, has always been a mystery to me. You could try your luck with the Notmad Explorer software.
