Download Taxi This utility updates the Walkman® player to firmware version 1.01 and provides the following benefits:

• Resolves an issue where the Walkman player may not play back correctly when connected to a NAS-SC500PK or CMT-LX50WMR audio system and is using the WM-PORT.
• Resolves an issue where the Walkman player may not play back correctly when connected to a BCR-NWU5 cradle that is connected to the computer.
• Adds support for Microsoft® Windows® 7 operating system

edit: just wanted to add, I upgraded to this yesterday and everything is working fine.

no problem, did you notice any difference since you updated?
I may be imagining it, but it seems like the player is a little faster navigating the menu's, especially FM channels.

I'm really not sure.....I wondered the same thing, if it went just the tiniest bit faster. I haven't used the FM in ages, so I can't remember to compare.

As far as the Windows 7 support, I was already using mine with 7, so I'm not sure what they meant with that.

That's an interesting question, because it makes us wonder whether previous series should deserve an update too.

From what I've heard, they don't do a whole lot of firmware updates.....even for current players.

I hear you....sony is kinda slack in the support dept. if it makes you feel better they also have an update for the E series.

@ jsk68: Thanks a million for the link...

However...

It appears that this FW update is only for the E344/8GB device.

Searching on the same site for the E345/16GB device turns up no FW updates.

Also, to be honest, I am would be leery of doing any FW updates on my device unless I know in detail what the FW update DOES.

Sony's description for this E344 update is a bit too vague for me. I would need to see release notes to determine whether or not any FW update is required/essential.
