Keep the file under 700 resolution, I tried a 720 x whatever file and it did not work. Files in the 600 range do work. Also make sure it is an .avi and not a .divx extension.

I have no P3, but rename the file suffix from .divx to .avi. The .divx suffix is some non-standard nonsense someone came up with, and I doubt that many hardware players support it. It's an AVI anyways.

If you have Problems with the DivX encoder or encoded files try to use h.264 AVC or MS MPEG-4 as Video codec. Maybe you have forgotten to Update the P§ to a newer Firmware....

I had the same problem with some of my AVIs - although the specs were fine the P3 would report "format not supported". I think the problem is the AVI-header. In my case it helped to simply re-save the files using some converter-software. Notice that re-saving is enough as it will force the software to rewrite the AVI-header - there's no need to re-encode the file.
For example, you could do the re-saving with VirtualDub (Direct Stream Copy) or with AviDemux (Audio/Video Copy Mode). Just google them they're both freeware. |

According to the manual max resolution for DivX 5 is 800x600 so his resolution shouldn't be the problem.

what settings had you used in dr. divx...
you ahve to use a simple profile with level 1.3 if you use h.264. in divx you ahve to change the extension and you have to select mobile profile...,because in the other there is a header saying the p3 that he could NOT open them but for usual it could really well.... ;D try to use divx 7 converter and make a Home Theater profile, them change the extenison to .avi and put it on the p3 but...another question... which firmware do you have...you need 2.07 or higher to see divx movies.... try to get 2.20 then it should work.....

try to use divX Converter 7 (15 days trial) or dr.divx(15 days trial)...
freeware is for example free video converter ..but you can´t convert videos in divx (only DVDs).... or try to use this... if in german, use goole.translate... But... which firmware do you have....the one which came with the P3...??? and the codecs... try to use the highest quality default setting.... with divx 7 use home theatre or: 800x600;320kbps audio;1000-2000kbps video; and if you can chose the audio codec, try to use AAC,AC3 or uncompressed PCM WAV... video use microsoft MPEG-4 (but then it is NO divx) or divx 6... óf you want something other ,try to google ist...
