I'm sat patiently awaiting delivery of my new 8GB Clip+, its my third Clip after much debating over other players.

I'm very tempted to install Rockbox but understand it doesnt yet have write access. Basically then, if I change EQ settings etc, how can I change this permanently? Modify the CFG file itself? Fine, but how do I then know the correct text strings to change in that?

Is there no way of saving the changed CFG file to my PC whilst the Clip+ is still turned on? Then overwriting the old CFG file once the Clip+ is in USB mode?

What is everyone else doing, changing settings each and every time you switch on? Confused Ive noted the simulators, but none for the Clip+, just Clip? Work just as one and the same?

No. There isn't any USB support so far (file transfer has to be done using the OF), and the cfg files wouldn't get written to the flash memory on the first hand.
However, you can use the Rockbox Simulator for the ClipV1 to set-up your favourite settings and put the cfg file written by the simulator (they are identical) into your Clip's .rockbox directory. That's what I did.

Does the button lock feature work when Rockbox is installed? (Pressing home for a few seconds).

Rockbox has a quick link menu on the home button. (Which is way more useful for me, since I never lock my player anyways, YMMV.)

Yust config.cfg. It is created after setting up an option.

On rockbox it's HOME+SELECT : it works only in the WPS though, so when playback stops keys are not locked, until you start playback again.

The Rockbox version I tried continued playback from the next folder instead of stopping when the album was done. Otherwise directory mode is OK for me too, since my directory is organized in artist/album.
