when i ported the latest build it played just fine using the internal but when i played music from the microsd it just randomly freezes or shuts down so i reverted to r25348 which i think is the most stable of them all

update: i'm currently running r25480 and it's stable as ever (so far)..been playing w/the player for about an hour and still hasn't crashed

Hi Funman,

Great work with getting the Micro SD playback working again, Just a minor issue to report regards build r25480

Whilst the new build (r25480) allows me to access and playback from the micro SD card perfectly, I've noticed that if I power down after listening to a tracks from the mirco SD card my Clip+ won't boot up next time. I have to reset by holding down the power button for ten seconds.

However if I power-down and switch back on after listing to a track from the Clip+'s internal memory I don't have the same issues, it powers up instantly.

weird, i don't have that issue at all..i always use microsd when at playback and i haven't encountered that problem yet...Goodluck sorting it out!

but: is there a possibility to uninstall rockbox, just for the case I dont like it.

and, how do I install it?

Rockbox Utility only knows the Clip, but not the clip+, I'm on a mac

I've tested it: indeed, -c4000 plays without flaw, -c5000 skips.

You can always convert those antiquated, processor-intensive APE files to something more universal and easier to handle, like FLAC. The size difference should be negligible, the gain in battery life might be significant.

I'm have little problems with the latest builds lately (r25495), the micro SD access seems much improved and a lot more stable, the issue I had with powering down and up after accessing tracks from the micro SD card seems to have resolved itself. Great work guys, I'm really enjoying my Rockboxed Clip+.

Two minor problems I've noticed with r25495 are as follows, I was wondering if anyone else had come across them?

1. Have you tried jumping between EQ presets? When I enter 'browse EQ presets' my Clip+ sometimes throws a complete hissy fit and starts playing back nothing but loud static & pops at times, at other times the playback jumps and skips when I browse say between acoustic.cfg, bass.cgf & classical.cgf, etc, etc.

It doesn't do it all the time, it's very intermittent - It's not really an issue for my as I'm using a custom EQ setting saved in my config file. But other may decide to browse EQ presets and come across the same issue.

2. Radio playback is also a little buggy, for example if you are playing an mp3 track and via the menu, navigate to the Radio and press the radio button, I'm greeted with a black screen. Forcing me to press hold the power button down for 10 seconds

^ i experienced that bug too when i'm playing with the graphic eq although i also have a custom eq on my cfg..

it seems pretty stable but i still reverted to the older version (r25348) since i find it the most stable during playback and other things even though it still has no fm-which i rarely use even if its working..

so what i do is try out the latest builds and if i find it buggy i revert to the old version

Best way is to go to page two of this thread and download dfkt's config.cfg, open it with windows notepad and you'll have an excellent starting point.

The manual is available for download, or you can go here to see the config file options:

r25501 seems to have gotten a micro sd glitch back again, although this time in a slightly different form. Whilst using r25495 I was able to listen to an entire album or two without issue, however whilst trying to do the same using r25501 the sound cuts out after about the second or third track.

The screen freezes and I have to reset, playback seems unaffected from the main memory, just track stored on the micro SD card.

r25508 won't even get past the boot-up screen with micro sd card inserted, interesting if you remove the card it'll boot-up fine and play from internal memory okay.

r25508 (downloaded from the current builds) boots fine with a µSD inserted on my Clip+.

I believe we just see non-deterministic random bugs,

yeah really. I hope that's not the case, because that would be harder to fix, right?

I'm been using r25372 (too lazy to update lol) with no problems. But I don''t play off msd.
