I'm looking to buy a media player that will allow me to play .MKV files. Do you recommend the Zen X-Fi2?

.MKV is only a container format. Now it happens to be so that it is generally used for video formats such as h.264 and other things, and often 720p. Considering that the X-Fi2 would most likely not play the .MKV files you have. Also I am unsure if the player can handle the container at all.

Regardless, the player is a good one, and if you get the anyvideoconverter (which is free, Google it!) It can convert those MKV files into AVI in a relatively short time.
