Hi again,
my Mahjongg game is in a more advanced state now so I think it's a good idea to open a thread in this forum. There is still something to be done but it's also a lot of fun playing Mahjongg ![]() What it this game? Mahjongg is a traditional Chinese game. I have created a single player version (Mahjongg Solitaire), but the original one is played very different and with four players. How do I play it? It is your aim to remove all the stones from the desk finding another one with the same painting on it. Additionally, both stones must not have adjacent stones on both long sides. However, one adjacent stone on a long side is allowed. While you play, a timer is increasing - try to finish the puzzle as fast as possible. If there aren't any moves possible (e.g. pairs are covered by other stones) you lose the game. Tap with your finger on the screen to zoom in near your finger, then select a stone. Tap a matching stone to remove both, or press home or the zoom out button to zoom out. Have fun ![]() ~ZaP Update 4/21/2010: - Added two more puzzles, you can change the puzzle by pressing the button that says "next puzzle" - Added reload button to reshuffle the current puzzle - Fixed some gameplay errors - Screen will now be zoomed until you find a pair or press home/zoom out Additionally I've added a puzzle editor (included in the game directory, windows executable) that enables you to add custom puzzle to your game. Just remember to not place your stones at the screen borders ![]() Just left-click in the window to place your stones (can be stacked) or right-click to remove them. Press "s" to save your puzzle.

That's nice! I know this has been requested a lot so it's cool to see that somebody has made it.
One note though, you don't have to create a new thread in here, just write in the dev thread or PM a mod (like me) and say that it is ready to be moved here and it will be moved within short.

Okay, I'll remember this next time, sorry for this.
I'm glad that you people like it, but unfortunatly I found a bug; the game counts every possible move after removing a pair but it also includes stones that lay under other stones, which causes the game to show wrong hints, and the game connot be lost in some cases. I hope I can fix that asap. Any suggestions on gameplay improvement so far?

Very cool, I love it!
I think it's really hard to make, and that this early release is working wonderfully "Hint" is also working very well! I have some issues on the zooming though; it works very well, it's just that for example, when you have two stones in sight (at zoom) you can't click them both because the zoom gets set back to default after a click, and you have to zoom in again to click the second stone. Also, after a hint, the hint-highlighting is gone once you've clicked (and zoomed in), and it can then be a little hard to find the stone again. So my suggestion would be to have the user choose the zoom level (by zoom in/out buttons on the right side of the screen, or maybe sweeping across the screen?) And also, when zoomed in, to enable scrolling. Last edited by Brett_val; 04-20-2010 at 01:40 AM. |

Thanks for the feedback
![]() I can imagine the Zen being too slow for scrolling all the stones, but I'll add a 'zoom out' button so the game will keep zoomed in until you have picked a pair, or you press zoom out. The highlight thing is an easy fix, and I think in the next version the gametimer will increase ten seconds each time you use the hint button, that's fair 8)

I remember that Mahjongg was one of the first test apps after creative launched apps for the X-Fi2. Thank you for finally getting it out there!

I think I tried to make a Mahjongg game earlier, which failed miserably, possibly you mean that one.

Could there be more tilesets in the future?

Do you mean different images on the stones, or more puzzles?

Tilesets, like different pictures in the tiles (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6CFzAgQ131...um+Mahjong.png or http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2...mahjong5yy.jpg it's a java-game, sure, but depicts different tilesets).
And different puzzles would be nice, too. The zooming bothers me a bit, i would like the puzzle be a bit larger in size, so it wouldn't have to zoom in every time. But otherwise it's a very good game

Ok, I'll create some more tiles and puzzles then
![]() Well, I cannot increase the display size of the puzzle because some puzzles would fit on the screen. Maybe you're right, zooming is not the best solution, but it's the best one working though.
