A chess app. The orignal javascript code is made by Gary Linscott:
http://www.forwardcoding.com/ and ported to lua by Chessforeva: http://chessforeva.blogspot.com/2011...lua-chess.html I have done the wrapper for the player and the replacement for bit.dll To use: click/tap on piece to move and then square to move to, no dragging yet. You can save for later playing by hold home-button for a second or two and the next time you start the app you can continue playing (that goes for crashes too). It's good chess code but maybe a little bit to heavy for the player. If chess-playing don't give you headache you can always take a look in garbochess.lua Last edited by Kalle Kula; 02-04-2012 at 12:49 PM. Reason: last squeezing on memory |

Great app. Chess is a game that was missing on a zen.
If i may, i have few ideas how to make game more accessible: - i find images of pieces little confusing. Could you write somewhere, which piece is selected (king and queen for example can be mistaken in games you loaded few days later) - pink buttons are really badly readable. Make text bigger - it would be awesome if piece selection would highlight fields, where it can go. |

Thanks for the response.
I do agree on the things you have pointed out and in future I hope I can change that. But first I want a better behaviour of the app. Even if you can continue the played game after crash it's a little ugly. It's because the app use 500kb memory to start up and there is a 800kb limit on the player. I haven't written the code but tries to find out where all that memory goes and if it's a way to size things down. |
