Default Random VCD, XML, SQL metadata files in the Root Directory of the S-545?

I've got my S-545 configured as MSC, so I'm wondering do I need all this metadata nonsense in the root directory of my player or is it only used by ContentTransfer or syncing apps?

It takes up a good 17Mb, which I feel could be better occupied by music.

That's only enough room for 2 or 3 songs....so why worry about it?

Why worry about what I worry about?

Is it necessary data for the firmware to run or not?

Well, you could call/email Sony and ask them.
