I've always found it weird that the official Rockbox bootloader displays a "shutting down" message when one flicks the power slider of the X5 shortly, and only really powers on when one holds the slider for a second. The original Cowon firmware also needs a slide-and-hold gesture to turn it on, but Rockbox displaying that "shutting down" message is kind of counterintuitive.
Since my X5 never turned itself on my accident, I see no need for a slide-and-hold procedure on the X5. That's why I made an X5 bootloader that instantly turns the X5 on, without wait and without the need to hold the power slider: http://www.mediafire.com/?ifmjmjxwg3m - this is also in line with newer Cowon players like the D2, S9, or O2, which also power on instantly. Thanks to Rockbox developers n1s and amiconn for their help!

Just tried it(as I'm not very fond of the original behavior), but it doesn't seem to work. A short flick makes it turn on the background light for half a second, and a second short flick will show the "shutting down" message. Holding up for a second, it will start as usual. The bootloader was version 4 before replacing so that shouldn't be the error.
Also, while at the subject of bootloaders, would it be possible to invert the color scheme? Like, white text on black background? I use a black background so it'd be a nice touch(I hate being blinded in the night by screens). Thanks in advance. UPDATE: It didn't load for some reason, but once I charged it(so that the Cowon bootloader started), it loaded the modified the new bootloader on next start, thanks ![]() (also, nice with the white on black color scheme) Last edited by ToJa92; 06-12-2011 at 12:57 PM. |
