Support for USB was added for some of the targets in the SansaAMS Rockbox port on June 22, 2010. This includes the V1 Clip, c200v2, e200v2 and most importantly for me the FuzeV1.
The USB support is partial for now. You have to have Rockbox running when you connect for it to work but other than that every other USB related function I've tested works fine. The details and list of USB supported targets is on the Rockbox AMS status page. Scrolling through the change log I also came across this, dfkt has been added to the Credits. Nice work and thank you. The volume patch and other changes you have helped with are working very nicely for me. Time to go transfer some files and NOT see the dreaded "Refreshing Your Media" screen. Yes! |

![]() I'm happy my Clipv1 has Rockbox USB as well... no more tiresome "database refresh"! But yeah, there are still some bugs to be ironed out for USB transfer, though.

Good to hear! Can't wait for the V2 players to be supported... Haha, I actually misread the svn notes in my rss reader, and compiled a new bootloader thinking it would work. After I figured out the reader had just truncated part of the message I was rather disappointed.

if the fuze v1 has only just got usb support, how come it had stable status previously? i thought lack of usb support was the only issue on all AMS sansas these days? if the fuze was stable, why can't the rest be?
![]() (not that it matters - i'm just curious. )

USB didn't work in rockbox but all the other things did, and we could still use the OF for file transfers.
Not sure what you are talking about with "the rest": Clipv2/Clip+/Fuzev2 are newer than Fuzev1 so obviously the rockbox port will take more time before being stable. |

that's my point. the same could be said for AMSv2 now? i didn't think there were any other outstanding issues.

Ideally that should not happen on stable devices. Additionally, things are still changing pretty rapidly right now, with some builds recently having skipping playback, disk corruption, etc. Once the port becomes more stable it'll be promoted. |

FWIW, Fuze v2 8GB with 16GB microSDHC card, RB build 26906-100618 has been extremely stable for me. Only 2 crashes in 10 days. All music is mp3 v2 LAME or better...

I'd appreciate some direction on how I can update my FuzeV1 for this new USB support. I'm very new to RB having just installed Ver 3.6 on June 20, 2010 using the auto installation with RB Utility V1.2.6. Many thanks in advance.

Just unzip a current build to the root of your player.

No need to hold anything when you connect. Just have Rockbox running before you connect. On a Windows machine your computer should give you the "Found New Hardware" message and install the needed drivers automatically. If you connect before you have Rockbox up it boots to the OF.
If you want to continue to use the player in Rockbox while you charge it hold the center button when you connect . The computer won't see the connection but the charging circuits will. |

Just upgraded my Rockboxed Fuze v1 to build 3.6 ... and the USB still ain't working. I launch Rockbox. I connect the Fuze to my computer (Windows). The thing shuts off and then boots to the original firmware. Any idea what's happening?
Take 2 ... OK, I finally got the USB plug to come up on the screen when I plugged it in, but everything just sits there, the computer's not recognizing the player. Last edited by big g 94; 07-10-2010 at 07:39 AM. Reason: New info |

Try the current build, not 3.6.

Rockbox USB for me is ALOT slower then OF, 1.74mb/s max vs 4.65+mb/s with OF(never seen it go below 4.65 for file trans on my new v1 fuze 8gb)
