Help on utility install please.

I just used the rockbox utility and the second screen it ask to be pointed to the firmware, does this mean the very first firmware ( 01. 02. 09 )? i pointed to that and all seemed to go well but nothing changed on my clip+ . I also set for mtc as well but in win7 64bit i dont think that matters.

I've never used the rockbox utility, always opted for the manual install method but I would guess that you should be connected in msc mode, BTW did you read the install instructions here.

I quickly read the utility and I believe the rockbox firmware version you need to pick would be one of these three …

• Release version- is the latest stable release
• Current build- is built at each source code change to the Rockbox SVN repository and represents the current state of Rockbox development
• Archived Build - archive of daily builds available for download

Edit: but like I said above, I've not used this method

The RockboxUtility doesn't work with the newer model Clip+. Just follow dfkt's instructions here.

Some newer clip+ players need to be patched in a slightly different way. rbutil has been updated to do it, but the current release hasn't been, so you may need to manually install or wait a little while for rbutil 1.2.8 to be released.

Just got home from work sorry for the late response, thanks for all the feedback everyone. I will sit tight and wait for the new installer. I just got the clip+ Tuesday and to me it's the best sounding player out of the box, i also own the P3 and the Zune HD and there fine players but the clip just blew me away.

One other thing, how can you tell if you have a later version of the clip+

As far as I'm aware, there's only been one version of the Clip+.

If you mean the firmware, you can look at the firmware version number on your Clip+ (I believe it's under the System Information screen) and then compare it to the latest version number in the firmware sticky thread at the top of the Clip/Clip+ forum.

There does appear to have been a slight hardware revision to the Clip+.....at the moment I can't recall where I read the discussion....not sure if it was here somewhere or somewhere on the RB site.
