Hi all,
I lost the USB cable of my iaudio 9 and I want to buy another one online. At first, I tried to figure out the type of the usb port. However, it seems it is not a standard mini/micro-usb port. And finally, I found this one: http://www.amazon.com/iAUDIO-USB-Cab...5286604&sr=8-2 I still want to know if it is a proprietary connector. Does anyone know it? Thanks. |

Yes, Cowon used a proprietary USB connection.

Hi,
thanks for the information. I am looking at buying cowon i9. A. Do you mean the usb port is neither a mini nor micro usb type/shape ? B. Can a standard micro USB still be used for charging ? Or do we need to use the proprietary micro usb cable for both charging and file transfert. This would be great to have the same cable for both my phone and mp3. For file transfert i would use the prop cable. thanks for your insights |

A. - Looks more like a mini usb but AFAIK it's a a proprietary USB connection from cowon.
B. - No, you use the included cowon cable for both charging and file transfer.

Its actually not proprietary but a common USB connection in Korea. My Fuji camera uses the same port type. In other words, it is easy to get a cheap replacement for the cable.

Hi all,
Sorry but I have many doubts. I do not know If i9 port is standart micro USB or not (standart micro USB defined here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_con...cro_connectors).. I want to buy a i9, but only if his port is not propietary, I don't want another especific cable/connector for my new DAP. In consequence I have two questions:
Many thanks in advance. Mp3ista. |

As already said in this thread, it isn't standard MicroUSB, and it has 8 pins.
Here's how it looks like:

It's proprietary - although it's a standard in S.Korea.
Ordinary micro-usb cables won't work. |

Geomadic sells adapters that work for the iaudio 9 and IIRC they are direct order so I bought a replacement from them.
