HTC HD3 Windows Phone 7 device incoming

Could be launched at September event

We at Pocket-lint first brought you word of HTC's HD3 back in March, following a leak of specs and images into the webiverse.
And now we're hearing rumours that the Windows Phone 7 device could be the big announcement at HTC's mystery event in London on 15 September, which Pocket-lint has, of course, been invited to.
If you're not familiar with the HD3, then allow us to fill you in:
Reports suggest an absolute beast of a handset to follow up 2009's HTC HD2 (which ran Windows Mobile 6.5, sadly).
We're expecting a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with a HD resolution of 1280 x 800. Running Windows Phone 7, the phone is said to be powered by a whopping dual-core 1.5GHz ARM-based chip, with 1GB of RAM on board.
There's allegedly 32GB of built-in storage (which can be doubled with a microSD) as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI-out.
The camera is reported to be an 8-megapixel one, with dual LED flash, and it should be capable of capturing HD videos as well.
In short - it sounds like one heck of a device, and will surely create some hysteria for the new Microsoft OS if it performs as it should.
As well as the HD3 being announced, we are hoping that HTC uses the event to give us more info on the Chrome OS tablet that it has supposedly got up its sleeve.

I'm thinking so as well, but it'd be what MS needs to pull themselves back into the smartphone game. Besides, I'd rather post this than that stupid stunt they did w/the mock funeral the other day,...........

WP7 could be interesting, but given the momentum of the industry it'd be hard for WP7 to gain traction.

Edit : Oh well, limited to 854x480.

Well, I did put ??? in the title. I do hope we hear something worth while on this soon tho, otherwise Windows Phone 7 will be D.O.A. just like the MS KIN.

I can't believe they're still basing articles off those confirmed fake specs from that July rendering. Jeeze! (And I know, TDS, you're only reposting what you've seen).

Dual core 1.5ghz Snapdragon? Qualcomm has already confirmed that we won't see that CPU until at least 2nd half of 2011 (the dual-core shipping now is 1.2ghz). 1GB RAM? With phones still shipping in 256/384/512 configurations, the next jump will likely be 640 or 768MB, but not straight to 1GB, not yet anyway. Also, MS has confirmed no SD support, so nix that spec. Lastly, 4.5" AMOLED? Samsung pushed the envelope getting out a 4", and they currently can't make a 4.5". So, what display maker is so far ahead of Samsung that they can push out a 4.5" AMOLED today in an affordable consumer device?

The only things I've heard on this phone that make sense are:
-made by HTC
-successor to HD2
-Will run WP7
-Will be called the HD7 rather than the HD3, so coincide with the OS
-Likely not ready for WP7 launch (October 11th)
-Likely to be unveiled officially at HTC's September 15th media event.

Hey, my wish phone turned out to be the HTC HD7, funny,..... Too bad I'm eying the Dell Venue Pro instead :-0. :-P
