Spinn Firmware versions and updating

My Spinn came with firmware version 1.21M
The firmware update utility does not yet recognizes the player.
Has anyone the same results with this?
And what is your firmware version?

i'm running 1.21M as well but yet haven't tried to update the firmware. oh btw have you found a sleep function because i haven't as of yet :S

Software wont recognize the player. I wouldnt update to 1.40 right now. Seems like the firmware is for the korean version...

You have to make sure ur connection type is MSC(UMS) not MTP. That is the only way the software would recognize it which I think sucks because so far I prefer using wmp to transfer my music as opposed to iriver plus 3.

As for the sleep function. Check the settings- Advanced- Power off type. You should see shutdown or sleep. I hope that is what you are looking for. It probablt works intune with the Auto Powe off setting.

yup i've already got MSC(UMS) on and the firmware program still won't recognize. and that shutdown or sleep isn't what i meant that just means whether it shut downs fully or goes into a hibernation like mode. what i wanted was a sleep function where after a certain amount of time it will turn off (ie.15,30,45 minutes)

well in that case you should be looking at the auto power off. and also for the software...did you set the device to spinn because I think the default is H10 or so

tried 1.40 and it works without any problems

There are still some flaws iRiver should better take care of with the upcoming updates...

• interface is a bit sluggish! especially the cover art takes some time to "build up"
• browsing music with the current interface is kinda pain in the ass. artists should be listed as in "browse device"
• while locked the player should be able to skip songs with the volume up & down buttons... just like the cowon d2
• i wish bluetooth would allows me to connect the spinn to mobile so i could hear some kind of sound when somebody is calling me...

Maybe I should make a thread with suggestions or just sent them to iRiver?

Hi,
I got my spinn a couple of days ago and it has the 1.21M firmware. It has got some bugs for example the "quick list" button don't work at all and some list don't start over when you have scrolled to the end. The "Back"-button sometimes flashes, when pressing it on the screen, without doing anything also..

How did you do to update it to 1.40? Plus3 says "Network error.
Please check network connection and try again." all the time and iriver firmware updater says i doesn't support "id=iriver_SPINN".

The links above are useless, the sites have som python scrip erorr. Please help!

Damn! I didnt bring the Spinn to my parent's place where I will be staying for the next two and a half weeks Thus I will not be able to check the FW update. Some fixes actually sound pretty good... Maybe not all hope is gone that one day the Spinn will be perfectly usable. Greetings, Markus

the url after "url_name" is the very thing you want.

Thanks, bbq. It's U30.hex, and goes into the root folder. Includes DMB so it's the Korean version, but doesn't seem to hurt.

Made the update by placing the U30.HEX file in the root.
The spinn started updating the firmware after unplugging the usb-cable,
so make sure your battery is fully loaded!
Everything is still works.
Just a pitty that DMB is not supported in Europe.

1.50 sure seems to have fixed the problems I had with Bluetooth on 1.21. I can verify that unlike the Samsung P2, the sound effects do work over bluetooth.
