New Cowon X7 discussion:

This reminds me a lot of my Creative Vision W - same dimensions, same screen 4.3" 480x272. This is not 2008 tech - its 2006 tech! LOL At least my Vision W does not have a touchscreen.

But guys how are you going to use the device? I don't use my Vision W as a mobile device on my person. It mostly stays in the car linked to my stereo and I watch video while waiting in the car. The size does not matter, even the screen specs do not matter. What matters is you have a large HDD, great sound quality and an open system which you can mod. It is still better than an Ipod or Zune.

I agree although wait one year and Cowon will hopefully release the X8 or whatever they will call it - an improved X7 with modern tech. Maybe like the S9 to J3 deal. One can only hope.

I don't think it's expensive, I read somewhere it's only 300$ for 160Go. If it has the SQ of the J3 or even better my brother's gonna love it for he litteraly eats music :P. He intends to go flac, it was a hard way to convice him but I did it . HDD and bad resolution are no problem, but if the quality of the screen is not good it would bother me and I think it's the same for my brother. This one isn't AMOLED right ? It's impossible on a 4,3 inch screen ?

With the recent V5 player's 800x480 screen, it is anyone's guess why they downgraded their next player to this one. An HDD player? WTF?

I have a O2, which is still going nearly two years. Glad that it keeps working. The next player that will make me look twice is NOT this one. I mean storage size is great, but why oh why is it so hard to put 128GB of flash on a player? Have you seen the microXD cards that have like up to 64 GB? I have had my three 32 GB cards for over two years now. All fit in the palm of my hand. Another time I'll ask WTF?

I will keep looking around if my O2 craps out.

if this is gonna be just an o2 with a hdd it'll fail. It'll need to have the same audio tweakability in the video section as the music section, this was my main gripe with the o2 and its audio for video was beyond terrible.
They went the wrong way for the x7 imho, it should have been a hdd DAP not a pmp.

Wow, that's really awful, with all the willy-nilly background pics per screen. None of them match together or enhance/improve the UI, it's just like a cheap generic website design template.

I'm still looking for a 'in home bluetooth mp3 player remote type thing'. Summin that i can just sync and copy my winamp playlists and files onto and control music around the home via this rather than going back and forth to the pc. With 100hrs battery life for audio, 160gb hdd and am sure good SQ its still a contender. BUT i will have to see for reviews, at this price I have to know everything, as folk have said its 2006 tech with a 2010 price tag :S

I should be ordering mine in around a week. It's (IMO) just an O2 w/a HDD and different UI, coupled w/better battery life-I want.

Heh,...nice. TBH, I'm getting this because my eyes are getting bad, so I know I'll be able to see the screen. I hope it's good for my needs, that's all. I will miss my J3 BTW!
