Hi all,

I bought a 32 GB microSD, it works fine in R0.
Now I have a 40GB R0 rockboxed with Fm Radio working (Thx Lorenzo) and with Bootloader working (Thx VanniX).

firmware by samsung is much better for everyday listening music and watch video)

and on/off is much faster and easier

Because rockbox doesn't fit your use doesn't mean it sucks. It's just that you are a basic user who doesn't need many features and settings. But please refrain from mistaking rockbox itself for your personal use and needs. Rockbox offers the advanced users many great possibilities for a daily use that the samsung firmware doesn't

Just if play with Rockbox a few days and forget it.
I couldn't set the equalizer is better than I do it on a samsung firmware.

Advantages: Interface, sound, charge expanse, video, texts, and more more more
Disadvantages: Can't play snake :с

What's the problem with video? conversion to mp4 with lower resolution is ony logical and very fast operation. Also with later builds there are totally no lags in video anymore. Sound and text are awesome too, but i've never been interested in using an equalizer too much, so i can't say anything about it.
Snake? I'm having an epic journey with pokemon crystal on rockbox so it's definitely a little more than just a snake

Okay. I guess this is not really the place to discuss if Rockbox is hot or not...
Indeed some flames, troll-text and such are better to be AVOIDED.
It's okay you said your opinion, just avoid saying "disadvantages: playing snake". This is not Rockbox. So please we need to limit saying "for me is not suitable etc etc" but not "it is a piece of crap". Because in my opinion OF is a piece of crap (apart audio equalizer and videos, rest is rubbish)

Need to say more? OF database bug? OF standby mode?
So please just do a clever comparison (ops I just trolled again haha)

Anyways, maybe you are stick with an old version or such, maybe try to give a try to a never version if you want, you're not obliged to

@Predelnik: I suggest you also Rayman, simply great

EDIT: in case, we could open another thread specifically to discuss about OF / rockbox comparison, with missing things, things to improve etc...It would be fine! Because sometimes rockbox's settings are a little more hidden than in R0's OF.

By the way guys, comparing OF and rockbox's street mode (Street Mode - Compressor), the feature in rockbox is really great in noisy situations and, at least appears to me, lot better

@5TORM: with this post I don't want to offend or scold you or such, it was just a remark. By the way: charge expanse?? What does it mean? Battery life? In that case, you need to update yourself because in last versions rockbox lasts more than 25 hrs, using equalizer too

Thanks, though for me R0 keys don't look very suitable for playing arcade games. They are playable ofc, but a little tricky, while rpgs or strategies can be played without any disadvantages. It's a shame though that there are not so many games of such genres on gameboy

Sorry i just need to ask a quick question, this has really been pissing me off - after many months of reading and experimenting, i still can't get playlists to work.

I get as far as the filename, then there's no way to save it - the centre button just deletes letters, so does the lower left button, the upper left button cancels, the upper right makes the screen flash, sometimes, but nothing else i can see, and the lower right button causes a shutdown.

I've tried holding down all the buttons. I've searched the on-screen keyboard for a 'return' key. I've tried the most recent builds.

So what's the secret hidden technique for saving a playlist?

I don't know what's your problem but for me upper right button is saving playlist just fine.(i never used it before honestly)

Just pressing the "menu" key (upper right as Predelnik said, on top of power btn) does the technique

@Martus0: this is the latest with FM support, otherwise you need to go to the build page of rockbox to get the very latest one ;=)

Here is a quick question has anyone seen one of these on sale anywhere for a good price? Looks like the best player but I really don't want to spend too much money and $100 for 8gb in 2012 is too much for me

Depends on where you live. In the USA it has never been popular and is thus very difficult to find. In Europe it's easier.

The ugly pink version can be quite easily found for a good price on ebay from time to time (because it is ugly )

The 8GB black or silver versions are becoming rare and the 16GB versions are very rare.

Great News: The FM patch has *finally* been committed

Now you can directly download the latest build from the rockbox website, the FM radio is included.
Using the firmware 2.30 you still need the rockbox_loader.sh and si4709.ko files at the root (see here )

The latest builds also fix the issue with my theme (WPS fails to load)
