I'm looking to purchase a new DAP for increased storage, and I'm considering both the Fuze or Fuze+. In my area both the Fuze and Fuze+ are currently available, with the Fuze being sold at a discounted price.
I plan on using the player only as a music player, and my understanding is that the Fuze is a very good audio player. Due to the small screen size on most DAPs, the ability to view videos and pictures is a non-issue for me. Despite the Fuze+ being successor to the Fuze, are there strong reasons to choose it over the Fuze? For me, one of the advantages of the Fuze are the tactile controls, although I like the separate volume control on the Fuze+. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Sound quality should be the same, so beyond the tactical buttons it can be rockboxed and doesn’t have the issues of touch, personally I’d go with the Fuze.

I say the Fuze too. I messed around with a Fuze+ the other day at Best Buy, and I def prefer the Fuze's wheel. And like WG^ said, you can ROCKbox it.

I say Fuze as well. The Fuze+ is well built and does sound quite nice, but for me, the controls would be annoying, though a few here have indicated FW update has helped the touch controls. Did you see this?
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=58022 CDMP3PlayerFan, grab a Fuze. Play with it for a week or 2. Then throw Rockbox on it. You will not regret it. As a real world example, I can blindly control nearly all functions of my RB Fuze while the thing is in my pocket: volume, track skip, pause. I defy anyone with a touchscreen/touch control device to say the same

Yeah, given the way you have mastered Mediamonkey and all its capabilities, I think you would appreciate all that Rockbox can offer on the Fuze. I probably don't even use a quarter of its capabilities, but it's on all my DAP's.

On the subject of the Fuze and memory cards: - How does the Fuze handle the files on a memory card? Does it: -- Integrate them so all of the files on the player, whether on the memory card or in the player internal memory, appear as one collection. -- List them as a separate collection apart from the files in the player's internal memory. - Can you load files on the memory card when it is inserted in the player?

I hope I will get a Fuze next month but reading the ABI forum I understood that Sansa players are the best devices regarding integration of music files from the microSD memory expansion card. When playing a song I believe that the Fuze even shows if the file reside of the internal or external memory.

Thanks for the feedback. That was a concern I had before buying the Fuze.

![]() I just bought the Fuze and I'm looking forward to using it. I'll have to use it for a while before deciding to Rockbox it or not. Normally I just work with the device as-is (except for applying the firmware updates) and just live with its limitations (or buy another player ).It is likely that I'll use the Fuze as is unless there is an issue that is a major irritant to me that can be addressed by Rockboxing it. For example, a feature on the Fuze+ that I liked is the ability to hide main-menu features (such as "Video") that I won't use.
