Default Just picked up a new NWZ-S745B during Boxing week!

Now joining the club here, longtime lurker on the Sansa E series forum. Liking what I see so far, but seriously, no firmware updates for this thing? Boooo!

I am surprised when people associate firmware updates with great products. Sure they provide new features, but at the core of these updates is a chance for the company to provide a much more stable firmware. With sony this is not the case, the firmware has been made so it does not need updates anymore.

Congrats on your purchase, can I ask how much it was?

Oh, I have no issues with firmware updates being scarce (especially when the product has been out for a while, towards the end of its life), but the firmware it came with is version 1.0.0, which pretty much means they haven't really bothered updating.. not worrying, the thing has great sound and is snappy, I love it!

Price? VERY cheap. Regular price $200, got it for $100 during a boxing week sale. It was a steal for any 16GB mp3 player, let alone this one.

An old hardware company like Sony knows that it must deliver a fully working product from day one. Younger companies contaminated by the software world make people believe they improve what is in fact an not ready to market device.
We end for example with some Samsung players full of bugs that will never be corrected because engineers are now working on future products.
