How close are they to official Android launch?

Congratulations, that's my first discovery of Rockbox and it's very impressive on my Samsung Spica!
My only problems for now are that if I pause, I can not resume playing and that the sound balance settings have no effects on my device.

Thanks for the links dfkt, I'll try it out later this week and see how rockbox works for android.

Do you happen to know if the equalizer works just for the rockbox program itself, or if the settings are global? I ask because sometimes I listen to pandora radio, and having a global EQ that works with pandora would certainly be a plus.

As usual with Rockbox: it will be ready when it's ready. Nobody can tell anything more specific than that.

The pause issue sounds weird, I don't have that on my Archos. The pan/balance issue is the same here - I guess it's just not implemented yet (just like Last.fm scrobbling and a few other things). On any other player than the Archos this would be a major concern for me, since I absolutely need pan/balance. Good thing the Archos has it built into the system, working globally - and rather annoying that obviously no other Android device has pan/balance yet.

Unfortunately, it only works inside the Rockbox app.

Its really up to kugel when he thinks its stable enough for everyday use. But I'm guessing in time for rockbox 3.9 in 4 months.

Added new revisions to the first post. These work with embedded ID3v2 album art and have (timeless) Last.fm scrobbling. Not sure if included WPS themes work in the 480x854 build, since that's a rather non-standard resolution (Archos 43 uses it). If not, use the 480x800 build.

Do you know if they're planning to a tablet optimized version?

I don't know, but I guess with large enough fonts and a fitting WPS it should already work nicely on tablets. The current limitation of hard-coded width/height should probably be replaced by a dynamic scaling version sometimes in the future, AFAIK - ie. one build should fit all screens.
