scrolling through lists

am i missing something or it it incredibly frustrating to scroll through lists - artists, albums, etc- on the x7 ?

when i start scrolling, i expect the x7 ui to jump quickly through letters so that i can stop at say the letter "u".

can anyone enlighten me ?

this is my first cowon player. are all other cowon's like this or is this one a special case ?

i'd prefer basic functionality like scrolling to be easy rather than have some pointless widgets on the homescreen.

glad that it's not just me though ... if this is firmware version 2.08, i dread to think was version 1.0 was like ...

No, I think you are both missing an important feature. If you place your finger on the far left of the list, you will see a line. That line indicates fast scroll. Slide your finger in that area, and you will scroll much faster.

I am not missing anything of the sort,i do use the scroll you speak of but it is incredibly imprecise and difficult to navigate with.........the difference between that scroll method and the ones of zune for instance is night and day....i love many aspects of my x7 but the scrolling and such is terrible

Yes, scrolling wit the Zune is much better, but I think the advantages of the X7 definitely outweigh this. As for me, I find no difficulties scrolling lists with the X7, and I have over 300 albums to scroll through.

thanks! i wasn't aware of this functionality.
it makes the device much more usable - a long way from perfect still, but better ...

Too bad the Zune's, all of them, can't touch the X7 for it's sound quality.

Yep, so far I had two people listen to my X7, one who has a Zune 120GB, and another person who uses his iPhone for tunes. Both of them said to the extent, "Holy Crap! It sounds fantastic!" The one with the iPhone also couldn't believe the way it drives his Dr. Dre Beats. Yeah, the poor sap has poor taste in headphones also, but that's another story.

If the X7 was a phone I'd be sold - but I need convergence. Sadly, I've settled. But, at least EQu & Equalizer might eventually close the gap - or did they already???

Yes, the gap was closed somewhat, but I do prefer BBE. Don't get me wrong. EQu is fantastic and IMO it makes the Touch a serious music player. But to me, the Cowon's SQ sound a bit more deeper. But.....that could be placebo also, so I will need to ABX to make sure!

Now, how the hell did scrolling thru lists develop into this conversaton?

I can't choose one sounding better than the other in regards to the i9 and my Touch....both are excellent IMO.
