Folks,

Looks like we now have confirmation for anyone using an unlocked phone that originated from an overseas carrier that this original OEM carrier controls your updates for WP7 - not the local phone carrier you are using in your own country.

Example I have experienced:

Australian Carrier = Telstra (both testers on same carrier in Aus).
Tester 1 (me) = AT&T unlocked Samsung Focus = No update (still blocked 5/3/11)
Tester 2 = Rogers unlocked Samsung Focus = Updated 4/3/11.

So - there you go.

mmmh interesting. I bought my Omnia from France, but it never had a simlock there. So I wonder who is in control of my updates.
