This would be a rather difficult task to complete.

I just want something like M1 on Symbian devices (search it), or just a theme.

No and No, case closed.
Closest you get is modding the firmware, which there are no good tools for that I know of.

As soon as someone comes with a request and then say "Search for it", I always refuse. If you can't bother to provide the information, then why should I take a look at the request even, since you obviously don't care enough to even provide the necessary information.

Besides, I hardly believe we could do anything close to the kind of mods that you request would need, the firmware is just that closed.

I don't want nothing difficult. Just an explorer, clock, calc...
Something easy.

You may not realize it but what you are asking it extremely hard and very time consuming. You are pretty much asking us the rewrite the os without the proper information on the processor and the other hardware units.

Well, explorer is nothing easy in an environment where you don't have even the basic function of browsing a directory...

I'd also like to be able to run Rockbox on ZEN, but before someone can figure out the hardware, there is no chance.

We do know the processor ( I found it along with some other information ( and older version and how the it installs the firmware ) in the installer, the process takes 4 or so phases 1. delete and install 1st image, 2. delete and installs the 2nd image, 3. delete and install 3rd image, 4. verify) THough that is not enough information.

Yes, and you have no idea about programming at all, I'm afraid.
You can't build anything like Rockbox on top of the LUA environment we work with here because it has extremely limited API and it would be probably very slow.
Rockbox would have to run directly "on the metal" which requires very extensive knowledge of hardware programming.
So, you wouldn't make it even if you knew LUA.

I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the WINDOWS shell.
Don't be annoying, please.

It is not a simulator! If you read the articles the only simalarity it has is the gui.

?? He was just stating the facts.

He is absolutely correct, we have to limited hardware and too limited api's. We can not access parent directories from lua either.

Unless YOU want to rewrite the firmware and intergrate the drivers to have a linux kernel or windows on the player then there will never be another os for the player. Even if you did try to make it, you would need a very good understanding of the hardware and how to program firmware.

End of discussion, currently it is IMPOSSIBLE to make another os, or run one inside of lua. Another reason why it is impossible is that our lua version's dynamic libraries are disabled, if they weren't they we could potentially have the player do some cool tricks, but since it is not enabled we cant.

And what about a theme? Is it complicated???
