Since the 32 had one I figured the 43 deserved the same. Unboxing video from Archos Lounge is up:

There is also a short video demo somewhere on the site but so far can only find it through Google vids, but then again my french is not great.

In that video there is a fair bit of delay in the rendering of pictures when scrolling through them which seems odd unless they are super high res.

Anyways nothing new but still seems overall like a good option for those not wanting to get an IPod Touch.

cant buy this one yet can you? I am trying to hold out for it but the ipod touch is tempting me so I might buckle and get the archos 32 to keep me away from the forbidden fruit.

Archos site is also allowing for notification for when the tablets are available but for some reason it wasn't working for the Archos 70...

Although if the 43 is like the 32 it should be a great device for the price...........if they can ever get the pricing right.

You guys are funny. I am well aware of that poster's bias. The vid he posted for the Archos 7 last year actually made you think you wanted to buy one

So the 43 is smaller, lighter, cheaper, and more pocketable then the 5it.
What does it do better then the 5it, other than fit in smaller pockets?

Sounds like the screen is more responsive and a better version of Android. But I agree the form factor is not as good. I really wish that they had come out with a new 5inch device.

does this thing have a camera? I see it listed in the specs but it was not mentioned in any of the reviews I have seen so far

Yes, the 43 has a camera. 2mp for stills, and 720p for video. Not getting the best reviews though.

I have an Archos 43, just got it a few days ago. The camera on it really isn't anything special. It's fine for taking light photos or videos in a well lit area, but definitely not a full-fledged camera replacement.

This does appear to be a sweet player. but why wasn't the music playback mentioned? Before I plunk down money for this, I will wait for more reviews and feedback.

I would guess the music player is decent. I have seen some reviews of the UI but not the actual SQ.

This review has a pretty good paragraph in the Music app. He doesn't mention audio quality though. It's hard for me to believe there is no genre sort option. Can someone who has one check that?

Right. i can't believe not one of the reviews provided has the verdict on SQ, which in my opinion is one of the most important factors in a player. I also wonder if it provides gapless playback.
