Hello all .. Just discovered this forum today and someone here can help.. Recently a friend brought me his ZVM asking to "get my music off it" The kicker is the device would not start.. Through some troubleshooting I determined that the mainboard is bad. Found that the hard drive is still good..I was able to cable it to my XP Pro SP2 desktop on the secondary IDE channel. The bios of the PC sees the drive and windows knows that there is a drive there however it doesnt show in windows explorer.I tried to mounting the drive on my Ubuntu VM on the same machine and that was a no go too.
Long story short. is there a way I can get the data off this drive from windows ? |

Here is the deal. Windows does not recognize the file system on the creative drive. The only way to save the data is to put the drive into a working player and copy off the data.
Some people say that there is a utility that recognizes the file system, but nobody has ever posted what it is. So if the data is that important, you know what to do. Buy a working player ($75 value) and put the drive into it and copy the data that way. Good luck, G |
